Fred Lobster

Well, Fred Lobster is a tough one to explain without sound so totally redneck....

My parents (& neighbors) land backs up to the River in East Texas. The front half of the property is open pasture and the back half is heavily wooded. So Fred's is down on the river on our "neighbors" property. We usually venture down there when we are at the 'rents just cause it's so nice & peaceful, you used to have to have 4 wheel-drive to make it there, but they've cleared a path that makes it easier to make it. (although on the four-wheelers is the most fun way) I don't know if you can tell by the pic above, but there is an "F" infront of the "Red" on the sign....and that's where Fred Lobster came from. You can read the Fred Lobster "history" on the website....yes there is a website. http://www.fredlobstersocialclub.com/
An annual event held at Fred's is Fredi Gras. Last year there was a parade, crawfish, and a really fun time had by all. This year they added a new aspect, the Fred Lobster 100. A race. What started out as my brother and neighbors and a few other friends racing trashy cars and having fun turned into 20 cars entered and around 1000 spectators...yes 1000. (we don't have an exact number but there were that many or more) Dad had been talking about the race for awhile...that's why he got out of the hospital on Saturday...He had such a great time. His roommate got to come and several of his therapist & nurses. It was so fun!

Here are all the cars before the race... Started with 20 cars...only 6 or 7 finished the race.

The Fred Lobster Car (our neighbors) they only made it 10 or 15 laps...Hilarious! Corey's team made it a little over 50 laps. (the cars were all worth around $750 dollars)

Saturday night finished off with a band &; food. It was just alot of fun to be home. I can't wait till next year...who knows how big it will be then!

Looks like you had a blast. I work with Josh Krajca mom and she said he really had a good time.
So glad your dad got to get out and go. Hope he's doing a lot better!
