What a Night...Yesterday at work I was thinking that I really didnt have much to blog about this week....Nothing really had gone on. NEVER think that you need some action to Blog about, cause apparently Nature will give you something!! That just reminded me of a quote I saw on "Enjoying the Small Things"
Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are… Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect Tomorrow. One day I shall dig my nails into the earth, or bury my face in my pillow, or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky and want, more than all the world, your return.- Mary Jean Iron
In other words...Dont wish for Action to Blog about...just Enjoy your days....
I had so much to do last night. I work for my parents Trucking business part time & on Thursdays I do payroll. I had that to do, I needed to get some laundry done, Supper cooked, wash my hair (which is really a process!) But Tanner wanted me to go with him to feed at his parents house, so we all loaded up & headed that way. Tanner's mom was swimming & Helee decided to get in. I didnt have my camera with me, but he was doing SOOO good...swimming by himself with only the floaties (It was his first time not to freak out!) BLOG WORTHY MATERIAL! but had no camera.
I gave Cross to Tanner & went to get my drink that was sitting on the picnic table. Immediately when I put my lips to the bottle...something stung me! I never saw it, I just threw my drink down & teared up. I got bit on the inside of my lip. OUCH! I've been stung by wasps before, no big deal. I wasnt too worried. Then I started itching all over my body. I got a benadryl but with all I had to do at home I didnt take it right away...they knock me out!
This was maybe 10 minutes after I got bit.
2 Minutes or so later before we got back to our house. The itching got worse & I broke out in Hives...so I finally took the benadryl.
When we got to the house...I ran in the garage to get in the shower...It usually helps when I start having an allergy attack. I got into the garage & there was a 6 foot snake (ok...it looked that big but it probably was only 3 foot or so) sitting my the door to the house! UGH...I yelled at Tanner & he came & chased it through the garage. Oh the joys of country living! The shower really didnt help much. So i got out & took 2 more benadryl...but the swelling was just getting worse.
(Those are definitely some Reverse-Bubba Gump Lips)
One of my very best friends, Ashlee, is a Nurse. She is my go-to person for anything & everything. She honestly seems to know what to do in every situation! She's a nursing instructor at a local college & is in Vegas with the other school instructors. I sent her a picture & she called IMMEDIATELY & told me to get to the ER. That everyone she was with (ie: people with YEARS of nursing experience) thought I needed to be there FAST since the bite was so close to my airway.
When I walked outside to let Ashlee talk to Tanner, he & his brother were working to get his keys out of the truck! Helee had gotten in the pickup to get something & locked the keys in....The ONLY set of keys we have. (Are you remembering that Normal day quote yet??)
This is the last picture I felt like taking...but it got much worse.
Can you tell that my cheeks & jaw line are swelling by this point?
After a couple of hours at the ER, we came home pumped full of meds from an IV & even some steroids.
Moral of the story...be happy with your Normal-non eventful life! I promise events are not always fun!

Good god lady! Horrible sorry.... But I got a good laugh out of it. :-)
Oh, sweetie! That looks so uncomfortable. Good thing you are pretty enought to rock that look! I bet you never get botox after this.
WOW GIRL!!! I'm so glad you are better. Reminded me of the movie Hitch.
Wow, Amber! I will remember this blog of yours when I am wishing for something besides a normal day! I sure hope you are feeling better. I can sort of relate to your story because when my husband and I were in Hawaii a couple of years ago, I picked my towel up off of the sand at the beach and a bumble bee flew up and bit me right where my main artery in my neck is! I feel your pain literally! Take care of yourself and by the way, your boys are beyond precious :) God bless!!
