East Texas & Fredtoberfest!

What a great few days off I had last week!! My boys & I loaded up last Wednesday and headed to East Texas.  It's such a LONG drive, it was nice to be able to stay for a few extra days!

We spent most of the time just playing.  Thankfully we remembered to take Helee's bike...It kept him occupied ALOT! With all of our caliche roads, he isnt able to ride alot...except in circles in the barn, so he LOVED Mom & Dad's long driveway!

Helee & Dad went up & down the driveway.  It was a  good weekend for Dad. I think he got out of the house atleast once everyday...which left him EXHAUSTED by Sunday.

They decided to race back to the house....

Helee isnt a very good loser!! In his defense...it was up hill! & he really isnt used to riding up hills in West Texas!

Dad's one (main) request for the weekend was to be able to drive. This old Blazer has been in our barn for awhile...its not something you would really want to take down the road, but it makes a great pasture vehicle!

Corey & Tanner spent Thursday getting tires fixed & charging the battery up so Dad could take them on a ride!! Dad was like a kid on Christmas morning getting in the truck...he could contain his Smile!

They went & picked up Pete, our neighbor, and drove around the race track!

Saturday was the BIG Fredtoberfest Race! This event started a couple years ago...with just a few friends & has really grown.  There are well over 1000 people in our neighbors pasture with each race.  Its just a fun day!

To me, this picture is the epitome of the race.....This is Rusty.  He's the flag man.  He sits up in the air on a crane & flags for the cars to go, stop or finish...just like a real race! When we got to the track Saturday, I just died laughing when I saw this....

That rocking chair he is in is Dad's.  Years ago, everytime Dad would go the Pete & Susan's next door, he would sit in there lawn furniture & kept breaking the chairs.  So they built him his own rocking chair! TOMMY Size!

Corey hauled his flatbed trailer to the track so we could have a good view...I think Dad enjoyed it too!!

I think that this car blew its engine (or atleast that is what it sounded like) on the first lap! You pretty much can win the race if you just have a car that will keep running all 80 laps!

When this engine messed up, it was like a fireworks show....Can you see the smoke rings??? The car made it all around the track popping & blowing smoke rings!!

Cross & Helee both were worn out.  They both took naps on the trailer...

It was just a great weekend with Family & friends!! Next Race is in February...see ya there!!

Wonderful capture of the day! And doesn't Dad look just like Dad, in a recliner on the phone! Priceless!
