The Kissing Hand

The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn

Have you read this book? (Sorry for the poor instagram photos!)

The story is about a raccoon who is scared to go to school.  His mom kisses the palm of his hand & tells him to press his hand to his cheek when he gets scared at school or misses her & it will be like she is with him all day...kissing him on the cheek.  In the book, the little raccoon has a heart on his hand and he isn't scared to go to school any more.

It's no secret that Helee was NOT happy about school...He had no desire or interest to go & leave his Dad!

I saw this book last week on a blog & immediately checked it out from our local library! We read the book as we were going to sleep on Sunday night. Helee (& Cross) really enjoyed it.

Then, as a family, we all drew red hearts on our hands.  That way we all had a constant reminder Monday that we were loved!

Helee loved it so much, last night, when his heart had worn off...we had to draw it back on again. So he would have it to press to his cheek when he got worried at school.

Day 3 did not start off as well as Day 1 & 2.  I think the schedule is catching up to him.  We (he & I both) shed our first tears this morning!

I am SO very thankful, though, that we have great friends that work in the school! A close friend his Helee's PE teacher.  He sent me this pic this morning:

A ladies man!!  After leaving him with a few tears in his eyes this morning,
I was glad to see this CHEESY smile!

I am so thankful that my daughters are loving creative Mom's and for loving teachers who know how hard "firsts" are! Praise you LORD for helping us all with these firsts!
